Example page
Description
The only time that you can make a payment
is when you click on the charge to
view the details of entries, or a list of related places,
found by a free search of the name index.
The page has four sections:
- Payment requested
- A red message showing the credit needed to view the selected records,
and the amount, if any, remaining in your account.
- Pre-payment card
- An invitation to redeem a card voucher that you have previously bought
or been given. You need to enter the Voucher number (you can ignore leading zeros)
and the nine-letter password hidden under the scratch-off strip.
- Payment online
- An invitation to pay online using secure payment pages provided by WorldPay,
our payment service provider. Payment may be made directly in one of six different
currencies, US$, CA$, GB£ AU$, NZ$ and Euros €.
- Exchange rates (not illustrated)
- Information about exchange rates provided by xe.com
Notes
- Whether you redeem a pre-payment voucher or pay online you will have
six months to use the credit you have purchased.
- The system will attempt to remind you by e-mail if there is more than 10p credit
remaining 28 days before the expiry time of the voucher.
- The payments made option can be used to find out when your voucher will expire
and the credit remaining.
- Any credit on an unexpired voucher will be used before using the credit
on a newly purchased voucher.
- If you sign on for a second time as a new user,
any credit you have remaining on a previous account will not be available.
- The unspent portion of any expired voucher is distributed to the
Family History Societies, mainly charities, who help develop this service.
Pre-payment Card
Prepayment cards are ideal gifts and provide an alternative to anyone
uncomfortable with paying online.
- Card vouchers are available in both £5 and £10 denominations.
- You will need to enter the voucher number and password from the voucher
to redeem it. The password is hidden by a scratch-off strip.
- The details from a FamilyHistoryOnline card voucher can be entered only once,
this is different from some other systems.
- A number of sources including
GENfair™
supply vouchers by post.
Some sources also require online payment and are more suitable for gift
purchases or where you wish to support the supplier with your custom.
Online payment
Payment online via FamilyHistoryOnline's connection to WorldPay means that
your payment is immediately credited to your account.
- Online payments are available in £5, £10, £20 and £50 denominations,
although the larger payments are only rarely required.
- If you find that you have made an error,
e.g. accidentally purchasing a larger denomination than you need,
please use the contact form to write to us.
- Your card details are entered using the
WorldPay secure server
(WorldPay is part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group and is respected worldwide).
They are specially encrypted and your card number is never stored,
or even seen, by us.
When your payment is accepted,
you will be credited with a 'virtual' prepayment voucher
enabling you to pay immediately to view the results you requested.
- WorldPay supports validation using both MasterCard® SecureCode™ and
Verified by Visa
and you may need to follow instructions about signing up for these services
and pop-up blockers during the purchase process.
- If you have a query, please contact us with the Transaction Number
from the e-mail receipt that WorldPay sends you to confirm the order.
