Salisbury Infirmary Admissions and Discharges
IntroductionSalisbury’s hospital, or correctly “Salisbury Infirmary”, was established in 1766. The first patients were admitted at the beginning of May 1767. The earliest surviving details of admissions and discharges appear in minute books and date from 5 September 1767. The details have been transcribed from 1767 to 1819. The original registers are deposited in the Wiltshire and Swindon Record Office. Transcription and conventions usedThe database includes the following fields:-
The records were transcribed exactly as they appeared but the following changes have been made for this database. Names of places have been corrected since many were spelled in a manner which only a local would recognise. The phrases “was InPatient” and “was OutPatient” have been used to replace some words that would not be sensible when a record is viewed out of context and to standardise presentation. CoverageThis collection currently contains some 103548 records from ten minute books containing entries made on the Saturday of each week. The first entry was on 5 Sep 1767 and the last currently transcribed in 1832. CheckingThis data has been checked. GroupingThere is no grouping of records in this database.
