Non-parochial Marriage Announcements of Pontypool, Monmouthshire(1859-1864)
IntroductionThis is an indexed transcription of the non parochial marriage announcements placed in the Free Press between April 1859 when the newspaper began and the end of 1864. It includes Chapel, Roman Catholic and Register Office marriages and also notices of marriages from Churches and Chapels outside the area. The Free Press is the main local newspaper covering the Eastern Valley of Monmouthshire from Blaenavon to Cwmbran, including much of the Pontypool registration district. The transcribing was carried out by the late Ben Fieldhouse and the Pontypool Branch of Gwent FHS are publishing this as a tribute to him as this transcript was one of the many things he was working on at the time of his passing.
