Transcription and conventions used

This database records 407,255 baptisms from 80 parishes and other places in the county of Cambridgeshire, plus Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire births registered at the British Lying-In Hospital, London.

The data records include:

  • Date of baptism.
  • Date of birth, if noted.
  • Forename and surnames of person baptised.
  • Whether son or daughter.
  • Father's forename, when given.
  • Mother's forename, when given.
  • Residence, when given.
  • Father's occupation, when given.
  • Place and County (Chapman code) where baptism took place.
